The Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences and Fedefarma to create a pharmacy practical classroom
The Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences of the UB and the cooperative Fedefarma will create a pharmacy practical room so that future pharmaceutical professionals meet the reality of community pharmacy from its training period at the Faculty. In this new practical classroom, students will focus on he functioning of the pharmacy, the caring role and pharmaceutical assistance. The room will have an area for theoretical learning and another to carry out practical sessions.

In this new practical classroom, students will focus on he functioning of the pharmacy, the caring role and pharmaceutical assistance. A pharmacy at the Faculty
This room, to be active during the academic year 2021/2022, results from an agreement signed last February by the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences of the University of Barcelona and Fedefarma. The new room will be designed to reproduce the daily life of a community pharmacy. Fedefarma will provide the new equipment with furniture and necessary requirements so that students can conduct their professional activities.
In this context, students will learn about the management program of the cooperative and will work with business intelligence tools -specifically Bisualfarma- to know about the indicators of the activity and adjust the positioning and maximize the profitability of pharmaceutical management. In addition, they will discover how healthcare campaigns are introduced to the pharmacy through the cooperativeʼs healthcare campaigns, among others.
Promoting pharmaceutical training
The president of Fedefarma, Xavier Casas, highlighted “the satisfaction of the cooperative to continue promoting the pharmaceutical profession from its beginning, with initiatives like this room”. “Training is one of the main principles to strengthen the healthcare role of the pharmacy. With this premise, Fedefarma launched the new project together with the Faculty, an initiative that will go forward to guarantee the excellence in pharmaceutical assistance and advice from the counter”, added Casas.
Also, Professor Jordi Camarasa, dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences of the UB, showed his support so that these facilities become a “milestone in the training of the future pharmaceutical professionals, since it will provided added value when giving the real contact to the future professional activity”.
