European project UNI-ECO launches “Green challenges” for a more sustainable university
The European project UNI-ECO, in which the UB takes part, launches the campaign “Green challeges: towards a more sustainable campus”. The initiative is aimed at those people of the university community who are interested in building a more sustainable university. Participation is easy: one needs to be part of the team, choose a challenge out of the ones in the website of the project, and submit a proposal to create a more sustainable campus.

The initiative is aimed at those people of the university community who are interested in building a more sustainable university. Participation is easy: one needs to be part of the team, choose a challenge out of the ones in the website of the project, and submit a proposal to create a more sustainable campus.
Universities play an important role in the transition of society towards a more sustainable life. From this context results the interuniversity project Erasmus+ UNI-ECO, which suggests developing practical and collaborative tools for innovation in sustainability at the university. The project counts on the participation of all centers members of the alliance CHARM-EU: the University of Montpellier, which coordinates the initiative in collaboration with the University of Barcelona, Utrecht University, Eötvös Loránd University, and Trinity College Dublin. The UNI-ECO project responds to the need to change our lifestyle and production methods to reduce the negative impact of human activities on the environment.
How to participate:
First, you need to build a 2-5 people team. Then, using the online platform UNI-ECO, you can present a project that contributes to make your campus more sustainable within one of the following:
- “Zero waste: what practices could bring your campus closer to zero waste goals?”
- “Biodiversity: what measures to take in order to protect and develop the biodiversity in your campus”
- “Transport: how to reduce the carbon print related to transport at the university”
- “Food: what practices would reduce the environmental footprint related to food at the university (university restaurant, catering services, personal food, etc
Proposals can be submitted through this application form, before April 11.
The day after, the selection committee of the UB will gather to choose the top five projects, which will receive an economic aid to work on their idea. This committee will gather on July 15 to select the UB winner.
The team that wins will have the chance to present the project at the summer school UNI-ECO in Dublin in July, which is a unique opportunity to work within a European context.
