New incorporations to the rectorʼs office and managerʼs office

This April, the latest changes in the organization of the Rectorʼs and Managerʼs offices have been made official. Four more people have been added to the team: the new manager, position to be held by former director of the Legal Services of the UB, Glòria Matalí; the vice-rector for Institutional Relations, Communication and Language Policy, to be held by professor of Political Sciences Jordi Matas; lecturer of Political Sciences Ander Errasti will be the new coordinator and director of Communication; and Eva Perelló will be the head of Bureau at the Rector's Office. These incorporations complete the organization chart of the Rectorʼs team, that result from the elections to Rectorʼs Office from last December.

Glòria Matalí, general manager of the UB

Glòria Matalí replaces Oriol Escardíbul, who held this position for the last three years in the mandate of the rector Elias.

Attorney of the University of Barcelona since 1996, Glòria Matalí graduated in Law at the University of Barcelona and with a masterʼs degree on on Criminal Law and Criminal Science at the UB and Pompeu Fabra University (UPF). She led the Legal Services of the UB from 2008 to 2010 and from July 2017 to current date, as part of the team in the Managerʼs Office. 

Matalí has been member of the Managerʼs Office of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) during the period of 2011-2017, where she led the legal services, and has been head of the Free Justice Service at the Department of Justice of the Catalan Government (2010).  

With a professional experience linked to legal advice in the public sector, especially in the university field, Matalí has taken part in projects on transparency, development of online administration, and creation of university and research centers. She has also given lessons to staff related to her field of expertise. 

Jordi Matas, vice-rector for Institutional Relations, Communication and Language Policy

Jordi Matas, professor of Political Sciences at the UB, joins the team of the rector Joan Guàrdia to manage institutional relations, communication, corporate image, edition and language policy of the institution.

Matas graduated in Law at the UB and in Political Sciences and Sociology at the UAB, and got his doctorate in Political and Administration Sciences at the University of Barcelona. He was vice-rector (2001-2008) and secretary-general (2002-2004) of the UB. He took part as researcher in the London School of Economics and Political Science and the University of Montreal. His studies focused on the coalition governments and the political system in Catalonia. He presides the Governing Council of the Study Opinion Center of the Catalan Government and is member of the Academic Committee of the Institute of Political and Social Sciences of Barcelona and the Governing Council of the School of Public Administration of Catalonia. He is the author of the books Opinión política. Artículos en tiempos convulsos (Editions and Publications of the UB, 2017) and Letʼs govern together! (Tirant Lo Blanch and Editions and Publications of the UB, 2020), among others. He leads the Observatory of Coalition Governments of the UB.

Ander Errasti, coordinator and director of Communication

Ander Errasti graduated in Philosophy at the University of Barcelona, with a masterʼs degree on Political Philosophy at the UPF, and a doctorate in Humanities at the same university. He is now adjunct lecturer at the Department of Political Sciences, Constitutional Law and Philosophy of Law of the UB, and collaborator lecturer at the Open University of Catalonia.

He has been a researcher in the Institute for Self-government Studies at the Catalan Government and the Institute of Democratic Governance of the Basque Country. Since 2010, he has been member of the Interdisciplinary Reflection Group and Math Solutions for Entities (GISME) of the UB, where he organizes several activities on knowledge transfer. As part of the group, he is coordinator of the CCentre project (A narrative approach to improve citizens ageing and well-being), funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology on Health (EIT Health, 2016-2020).

Eva Perelló, head of Bureau at the Rectorʼs Office

Graduated on Industrial Relations (former diplomatura on Graduado Social) at the University of Barcelona, Eva Perelló graduated in Labour Relations and Employment at the Open University of Catalonia. She studied the masterʼs degree on Advanced Public Management at the UB. She has been working at the University of Barcelona since June 1987, and for the last twelve years she has been the administrator of the Faculty of Economics and Business. Perellós is replacing Dolors Baena in this position, who was head of Bureau at the Rector's Office for the last two years.
