International sessions to remember professor of Criminal Law Santiago Mir a year after his death

The Faculty of Law pays tribute to Professor Santiago Mir, a distinguished model in the studies and research on criminal law, a year after his death. A series of international sessions in his memory will treat several current issues on criminal law and highlight the research task of Santiago Mir in Europe and Latin America.

The Faculty of Law pays tribute to Professor Santiago Mir, a distinguished model in the studies and research on criminal law, a year after his death. A series of international sessions in his memory will treat several current issues on criminal law and highlight the research task of Santiago Mir in Europe and Latin America.

The opening of the sessions will take place on Thursday, May 6, at 10 a.m., by the dean of the Faculty of Law, Xavier Pons, and Andreu Olesti, director of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Science, and Public International Law and International Relations. The sessions will be live-streamed on BB Collaborate.

UB professor since 1982, Santiago Mir Puig received the honorary doctorate by the University of Alcalá de Henares and the National University of Trujillo (Peru), and was honorary lecturer at the University of San Marcos (Peru). He was the dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Barcelona and the director of the Institute of Criminal Science, and emeritus lecturer. Among his many publications are Introducción a las bases del derecho penal (1976, 1982, 2002), Función de la pena y teoría del delito en el estado social y democrático de derecho (1979, 1982), El derecho penal en el estado social y democrático de derecho (1994), Derecho penal, parte general (1984, 1985, 1990, 1996, 1998, 2002, 2004, 2008, 2011, 2015), Estado, pena y delito (2006) and Bases constitucionales del derecho penal (2011).
