Lecturer Jordi Tresserras, president of ICOMOS Spain
Jordi Tresserras, lecturer at the Section of Prehistory and Archaeology of the UB and member of the Prehistoric Studies and Research Seminar (SERP), has been appointed president of the Spanish national committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), international organization associated with UNESCO for the conservation, valorization and management of monuments and sites worldwide, with headquarters in 107 countries.
Jordi Tresserras, lecturer at the Section of Prehistory and Archaeology of the UB and member of the Prehistoric Studies and Research Seminar (SERP), has been appointed president of the Spanish national committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), international organization associated with UNESCO for the conservation, valorization and management of monuments and sites worldwide, with headquarters in 107 countries.
ICOMOS (International Council for Monuments and Sites) was found in 1965 as a result of the Venice Charter 1964. It is in charge of proposing the goods that receive the title of cultural heritage of humanity. Among its outstanding values are cultural and social diversity, impartiality, solidarity, promotion to youth participation and open access to information. ICOMOS Spain includes individual and institutional members, such as the Directorate-General of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Directorate-General of Cultural Heritage of the Catalan Government, among others.
Jordi Tresserras is a distinguished expert on heritage topics worldwide, and is in charge of the subject Heritage Management in the bachelorʼs degree on Archaeology of the UB. He has collaborated for many years in different master degrees related to this topic, and has supervised several doctoral theses. He has been a member of ICOMOS for years, first as an external consultant, and then as advisor and member of the board of the Spanish committee.
