The Housing Studies Barcelona Chair results from the unprecedented effort willing to focus the academic talent of the city and the country coming from different disciplines, such as Law, Economics and Architecture, among others. The chair emerges willing to promote teaching, research and knowledge transfer in the field of public policies on Housing and Restoration.

In this sense, the aim is to create the first official master studies on the State Housing, apart from creating workshops and postgraduate studies, and participating in competitive research projects at a national and international level, by creating academic reports and articles. Last, the chair will serve to create policy papers, that is, to provide advice to public administrations and the organization of conferences and seminars to fulfil the knowledge transfer.

The Barcelona City Council and the Catalan Government, through the Housing Agency of Catalonia, will boost the agreement that will regulate and set the bases for the launch of the chair, with the following involvement of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda. The Barcelona City Council, together with the four public universities of the territory, will work on the definition of this agreement for the later approval by all members.
