Cosmologist Licia Verde, King Jaume I Award on Basic Research
Licia Verde, ICREA researcher at the Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the University of Barcelona (ICCUB), has been awarded the King Jaume I Award on Basic Research, as announced today in an institutional ceremony of the King Jaume I Foundation.

Licia Verde leads the Cosmology and Large-Scale Structures Group at ICCUB. She is an expert on fields that range from theoretical cosmology to cosmic radiation in microwave fields, going through large-scale structure, galaxy clusters, statistical applications and data analysis. During her professional career, she has worked in the main cosmology projects of the last decade: 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey (2dFGRS), Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP), Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI).
The awardee of the King Jaume I Award has also been honoured with the Gruber Cosmology Prize (2021) and the NASA Group Achievement Award, for her contribution to the space mission Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Proble. In 2019, she received the National Research Award of the Catalan Government, and in 2019 she was awarded the Narcís Monturiol Medal.
