A project on sustainable tissues receives the StartUB! Sprint Awards in the Let’s UB session

The project Hemp and Love on production, distribution and commercialization of sustainable hemp tissues won the StartUB! Sprint awards to the top entrepreneur ideas by UB students. The award ceremony took place during the closing ceremony of Letʼs UB, the meeting session for the entrepreneurship field, which held its first edition on July 13 in the Historical Building.

The project Hemp and Love on production, distribution and commercialization of sustainable hemp tissues won the StartUB! Sprint awards to the top entrepreneur ideas by UB students. The award ceremony took place during the closing ceremony of Letʼs UB, the meeting session for the entrepreneurship field, which held its first edition on July 13 in the Historical Building.

Hemp and Love is an initiative by Arnau Sanmartí, student of Business Administration and Management at the UB, and Joan-Marc Moreu, graduate of Industrial Organization Engineering. The core of this business are hemp tissues, with natural and sustainable fibres, both for industries and companies and for the final customers. It prioritizes the local production and fair-trade values.

The second award was given to Vutifoods, a start-up from the food sector focused on the production of analogous from animal-origin products with plant-based ingredients. Specifically, they work on the production of alternatives to blood sausage and other cold meat. Vuitfoods is a project by Pau Valcells, masterʼs degree on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Nutrition, Chronic Diseases and Healthy Ageing of the UB, and the engineer William Day.

An initiative by Queralt Antú Serrano, from the bachelorʼs degree on Philosophy, received the third prize. This initiative is APIS PLAY, a boardgame about the growing disappearance of bees which helps us to reflect on the consequences of such phenomenon.

The StartUB! Sprint awards aim to promote and support entrepreneur ideas among the students of the University of Barcelona. The awards honor quality projects with a positive impact on society.
