Promoting studentsʼ knowledge in the field of community pharmacy, its caring role and pharmaceutical attention are the main aims of the new pharmacy simulation room, inaugurated this Tuesday, September 28, at 12 noon. This ceremony, presided by the Rector Joan Guàrdia, counted on the participation of the dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences, Jordi Camarasa, and Xavier Casas, president of fedefarma.

The simulation room, driven by the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences of the UB and fedefarma, is a place with the most typical elements of a pharmacy office. It wants to help the future pharmaceutical professionals to meet the reality of the community pharmacy from the very beginning of the training stage in the Faculty.

With this room, the Faculty aims to promote the healthcare role of community pharmacy and boost the excellence training in pharmaceutical advice and assistance. To reach these goals, the room has two different areas interconnected via audiovisual technology, which enables them to role play the relationship between pharmaceutical professionals and patients. The room is designed to reproduce the daily life of the community pharmacy and it brings an added value to the studentsʼ training, since it eases the contact with the future professional activity (dispensing of medicines, pharmaceutical advice, pharmacotherapeutic monitoring, etc.).

Promoting the role of pharmacy in medical care and education

Fedefarma, which took part in the design of this room and provided the furniture, has collaborated with the necessary equipment so that students can carry out their professional activity. The facilities will enable them to work with management programmes, as well as to work with business intelligence tools for pharmaceutical management. It will also enable students to get closer to healthcare campaigns aimed at health promotion and disease prevention.
