The University of Barcelona has 3,754 exchange agreements with 762 universities from 60 different countries. In order to share this wide range of opportunities and the existing grants to course studies abroad, the UB is organizing, on October 18 and 19, the third International Mobility Fair of the UB.

Participants will have information to help them choose their destination, application form process and to access the different grants and supports regarding mobility. Also, they can speak to other students who have already studied abroad in order to find about recent experiences of international mobility.

This fair, to be opened by the vice-rector for Internationalization Policy of the UB, Markus González Beilfuss, will be carried out in a virtual format. The first two sessions will be aimed to explain how the different calls for international mobility (Erasmus +, Global UB Mobility and Global Faculty UB) work, and to tell the students about the different grants to apply for. Then, the sessions will provide information about the support given by the UB regarding language, such as financed courses, accreditations of opportunities for language exchanges in order to practice the language of the host country before leaving.

The session on October 19 will focus on the mobility of masterʼs and doctoral studies. It will start with information on the European university CHARM-EU and the first master it teaches, Global Challenges for Sustainability, with participation of its students. There will be a session on mobility for doctoral students. The fair will go on with the presentation of programs and grants from Comisión Fulbright and the EducationUSA and the opportunities offered by the Confucius Institute Foundation in Barcelona. The sessions will end with talks by students who are or have carried out their mobility outside of Europe, in America, Asia and Oceania.

The fair reaches its third edition as a place for information and communication for students showing the wide range of options the University offers to study abroad. According to the vice-rector for Internationalization Policy of the UB, Markus González Beilfuss, “the University of Barcelona is the Catalan university with most international mobility opportunities and our aim is for the maximum number of students to benefit from these opportunities so they grow as people and internationalize their résumé”. “This is why -he adds- such events like this fair are important: we aim to help the students to plan these international mobility stays, and to make visible the need for the UB community to go towards an internationalization of our institution”.

The rectorʼs delegate for internationalization of the UB, Bibiana Crespo Martín, highlights that “mobility is a tool that provides, promotes and makes it possible for us to reach an optimal level of internationalization in the curriculum, as well as in intercultural and professional skills. Despite the unavoidable and undeniable incidence the COVID-19 situation caused this last year and a half in international mobility figures regarding our students, the UB did not stop its exchange offering with international universities and it kept working on several actions for international promotion in order to strengthen our ties and reach this moment of health stability with a wide range of proposals we present in this third fair to conduct a mobility stay abroad”.

Also, as part of the promotion actions for mobility and prior to the fair, the UB will take part, from October 14 to 16, in the #ErasmusDays. There are thousands of actions around Europe during these days to share experiences regarding this exchange program. At the University of Barcelona, students from different countries who are carrying out their Erasmus stay at the UB will talk about their experiences in the youtube channel of the university.
