“The objectives of the project are to develop a reflection on societyʼs involvement in the artistic sector and to promote extraordinary initiatives with those who establish the bases for tomorrowʼs cultural world”, notes Àngels Viladomiu, coordinator of the masterʼs degree ProdArt at the UB.

Equality and gender, racism and climate change, object of study of creative projects

The cross-sectional program Cultures dʼAvenir aims to respond to the social demand of including, in the public debate, topics of vital importance for survival. Therefore, for five months, twenty-five students from French, German and Catalan universities and art schools will work on a series of online creative projects to work, using their artistic practices, on themes such as equality and gender, discrimination, climate emergency, inclusion, and knowledge exchange.

The final aim of this program is for the students —from different artistic disciplines— to develop, modify and rule out ideas, and to gain experience and share their results with their universities of origin to have a real impact and create a new European network together with the collaborating institutions.

The project, part of the French presidency of Council of the EU during the first semester of 2022, is itinerant. It started the first week of November with a face-to-face meeting in the Paris Pompidou Centre, in which the students of the masterʼs degree ProdArt Teresa Minguell and Martín Kaulen took part. After Paris, there will be an online meeting with Berlinʼs HKW. The closing ceremony will take part in the CCCB of Barcelona, in March 2022, and will count on the participation of all second-year students of the mentioned masterʼs degree of the UB.
