The new resolution by the rector of the University of Barcelona, Joan Guàrdia, published today, lifts the requirement to wear a mask in the universityʼs indoor spaces. This resolution, based on the Royal Decree 286/2022 from April 19, is valid from today.

The use of face masks will still be mandatory in the medical services of the University of Barcelona. There are also a series of recommendations for the university community: maintaining the maximum possible ventilation in the spaces and usual basic hygiene measures.

Also, we ask those members of the university community who, according to the healthcare system, are considered vulnerable to COVID-19 or positive-COVID-19 with mild symptoms that do not need the sick leave, to continue using the face mask.

Last, we recommend the use of face masks for those face-to-face and group activities that cannot guarantee ventilation conditions nor a minimum safety distance or in closed spaces like the lifts.
