ICREA research professor Margarita Díaz-Andreu received the Ramón Menéndez Pidal National Award in the field of Humanities. Díaz-Andreu, member of the Department of History and Archaeology of the UB, received the award for the quality, creativity and international impact of her research career in the field of archaeology, in which she made outstanding contributions to gender studies and pioneer projects in the field of archaeoacoustics.

ICREA research professor Margarita Díaz-Andreu received the Ramón Menéndez Pidal National Award in the field of Humanities. Díaz-Andreu, member of the Department of History and Archaeology of the UB, received the award for the quality, creativity and international impact of her research career in the field of archaeology, in which she made outstanding contributions to gender studies and pioneer projects in the field of archaeoacoustics.

Margarita Díaz-Andreuʼs research and teaching focuses on several fields including prehistory, cave art, history of archaeology, political context of the development of professional archaeology, heritage and social value, gender archaeology and the integration of women in professional archaeology.

In these fields, Díaz-Andreu worked on a series of projects among which hare those related to the internationalism of archaeology (SinFronteras), interdisciplinarity (InterArq), the history of female archaeologists (ArqueólogAs), heritage (Heritage and Values and Curbatheri/DeepCities) and archaeoacoustics (SONART, the acoustics of cave art in Baja California and Artsoundscapes, a European Research Council). Moreover, she leads the Grouo on Public Archaeology and Heritage (GAPP) of the UB.

Created in 1982, the National Resarch Awards are the most important awards in Spain in the field of scientific research. They aim to distinguish the merit o fthose people who are carrying out an outstanding professional task of international relevance in their research areas and scientific fields, and who contribute exceptionally to the advance of science, the top knowledge of human beings and their coexistence, technology transfer and to the progress of humanity.
