From this academic year onwards, the UB card, which was made of plastic, will no longer be produced and the students will have a digital card on their SocUB app. The University is therefore advancing towards a process of digital transformation and it contributes to the sustainable development, using less plastic and having less environmental impact.

The digital card has the same functions as the plastic one. With it, the students can identify as members of the university community, manage library bookings, make online procedures at the University and access Avantatges UB. This card is available to all the students of the UB and its affiliated centres.

To get it, you just need to download the SocUB app, log in and go to the card option (Carnet), where you can already see it. The information about the digital card can be found on the website Carnet de la UB.

Moreover, the app gathers practical and customized information about the University and it gathers the most important services for the university life, which the student will have at hand using the phone. The aim is to bring the University closer to the students, setting an instant and efficient communication channel.

Available to the UB staff

Since 14 February, all the members of the university community (TRS, AdSS and external collaborators) can access the app SocUB using the UB Staff profile. One of the main advantages of this option is that the staff will always have their UB card on their phone. For the UB staff, the app includes several functions such as access to maps, the directory, a summary of their clocking, a list of teaching tasks and access to the UB Store, among others. Also, the app is under a constant development and evolution, so there is some work underway to make other functions available, such as the visualization of training courses or the holidays and leaves (for AdSS members).

Future profiles

Before this year ends, the SocUB app will feature the profiles for Alumni and UB Group Staff. These profiles will have specific functionalities, including a digital card. The SocUB app is reaffirmed as the institutional application with personalised content for all profiles, facilitating instant communications of interest to the entire UB community.

How to access the application

Accessing the application is very simple: once you have downloaded the app, all you have to do is select the corresponding profile and enter the University's identification code and password. The application displays personalised content according to the group to which you belong. SocUB is available for Android and iOS devices and can be downloaded from the Google Play (Android) and App Store (iOS). For more details, you can visit the SocUB App website.
