The effects of climate change in Maresme or the Ebro Delta, the lifestyle of the inhabitants of Barcelona, or the obeying rules, even if they are unfair. These are some of the issues that will be discussed at the Science Cafés that the University of Barcelona is organizing on September 30, as part of the European Researchersʼ Night.

The UB Science Cafés are colloquiums in which researchers from the University discuss topics of general interest with the public. These are issues of global scope which have an impact on the daily lives of citizens. On the morning of Friday 30, two sessions will be held for schools, namely for secondary and high school students: "The climate of the past", to be held at the Faculty of Earth Sciences, and "Should unfair rules be obeyed?", at the Faculty of Law. In the afternoon, the cafés open to the general public will be: "How do we notice global change at a local level?"; "Lifestyles and health"; and "Sex and gender in research". All three sessions will be in the Historical Building. To attend, pre-registration is required on their website.

The science cafés are organized by the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+I) of the UB; the rector's delegate for Scientific Dissemination Gemma Marfany; and several UB faculties and research institutes. They have the support of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology — Ministry of Science and Innovation and the funding of the NitRecerCat project from the EU Horizon Europe research and innovation program.
