Today, the University of Barcelona and Mutua Madrileña, through the Mutua Madrileña Foundation, signed an agreement to create the UB-Mutua Madrileña Foundation Chair on Corporate Sustainability. With the support of the Royal Academy of Economic and Financial Sciences (RACEF), the Chair aims to promote sustainability in the business world through the development of teaching, research, training, information and documentation activities, within the framework of monitoring the principles of the Global Compact for sustainability.

The initiative was presented today in the Aula Magna of the Historical Building of the UB, by Joan Guàrdia, rector of the UB; Jaime Gil Aluja, president of the RACEF, and Teresa Campos, managing director of the Mutua Madrileña Foundation. The director of the chair, Ana María Gil, professor at the UB Faculty of Economics and Business and a full member of the RACEF, also took part in the presentation.

The UB-Mutua Madrileña Foundation Chair on Corporate Sustainability will offer corporate resources on sustainability and will help to define strategic plans, codes, indicators and good governance practices that enable the implementation of the legal and regulatory framework in this area, as well as the recommendations of national and international organisations. It will initially run for three academic years.
