The Aula Magna of the Historical Building of the University of Barcelona hosted yesterday, Monday 23 January, the award ceremony of the 8th UB-Danone Chair on Healthy and Sustainable Nutrition Awards, created in 2015 to promote training in food and health among young students.

The Aula Magna of the Historical Building of the University of Barcelona hosted yesterday, Monday 23 January, the award ceremony of the 8th UB-Danone Chair on Healthy and Sustainable Nutrition Awards, created in 2015 to promote training in food and health among young students.

The event, presided by the rector of the UB, Joan Guàrdia, was attended by the director of the Chair, M. Carmen Vidal, professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences and director of the Food and Nutrition Torribera Campus, and the director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability of Danone Iberia, Laia Mas.

The jury awarded the prize for the best bachelorʼs degree final project in Human Nutrition and Dietetics to Sara Doblas, for "Is eating behaviour a determinant in the relationship between sleep and obesity?", a project carried out under the supervision of Professor María Fernanda Zerón.

The study "Metabolic fingerprinting of hazelnuts for their geographical and varietal authentication", by Anna González, supervised by professors Berta Torres and Stefania Vichi, received the prize for the best bachelorʼs degree final project in Food Science and Technology.

The award to the best bachelorʼs degree final project in Culinary and Gastronomic Sciences was given to Julia Caparrós, author of " Application of El Celler de Can Roca's research methodology to a new product: Lemna", a study supervised by Alba Ruíz and Héloïse Vilaseca.

Among the attendants were also Glòria Cugat, deputy director general of Food Inspection and Control of the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda; Roser Martí, president of the College of Dieticians-Nutritionists of Catalonia, and Gemma Salvador, nutrition expert of the Public Health Agency of Catalonia. The event ended with a speech by Joan Guàrdia.
