Micronanotecnologies i nanoscòpies per dispositius electrònics i fotònics (MIND)
Research lines
- Micro and Nanotechnologies: In the research line of Micro and Nanotechnologies the objectives are the consolidation of the synthesis and fabrication as well as the set up of new technologies that complement the former ones, allowing the design and fabrication of new advanced devices for the fields of electronics, photonics and chemical analysis.
- Electrophotonics: The silicon based of photonic promotes the development of devices for light use based in silicon compatible processes and technology. This technology exhibit a great potential because a mature development could allow photonic-based systems already developed in microelectronics. In fact the election of silicon as technological platform ensures the reliability of technological processes and materials available for fabrication, included for mass production and reduced cost. Besides, this technology allows the combination of standard electronic performances with new photonics capabilities.
- Nanoscopies: The main objective of nanoscopy research line is the use and development of instrumental methods as well as data treatment for cutting-edge scientific problems related to material science. This objective is mainly pursuited through Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) as fundamental tool for material characterization at the nanoscale, but complemented with Near Probe Microscopies and related techniques.
- Modelling: Computing materials are being essential for material understanding in the last years. The use of consolidated codes based and high-performance research facilities (Marenostrum at BSC, CESCA) allows us the understanding of fundamental behaviour of materials and devices either for equilibrium properties (DFT) or conduction processes (NEGFF).
