Coordinated by the researchers Katarzyna Paszkiewicz and Marta Font, from the Centre Dona i Literatura, the objective of the course " El plaer de la lectura. Del paper a la càmera" is to analyze ten literary works by women writers which have been made into film adaptations. Jane Austen, Virginia Woolf, Edith Wharton and Clarice Lispector are some of the narrators that will help us reflect on topics such as cultural translation, the concepts of authorship or intertextuality. Although cinema and literature could be seen as very different languages, they are indeed doomed to interact, complement and understand each other, and even to create confusion. Thanks to several scholars, specialists in the works of the authors analyzed, we will enjoy the pleasures of reading and looking in order to explore the relationship between these two languages and study their aesthetic and affective strategies. Sessions will be given by the researchers from the Centre Dona i Literatura Àngels Carabí, Marta Font, Dolores Resano and Andrea Ruthven, as well as Mireia Aragay, Mercè Coll, Erica Consoli and María Teresa Vera Rojas (Universitat de Barcelona), and Aina Pérez Fontdevila (Cos i Textualitat, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) will participate.

The course, comprised of ten two-hour sessions, has a cost of 140€; discounts are offered for members of the UB community and residents of Badalona (115 €). Consult all the information on prices and the registration procedure in the Àrea de Formació Complementària of the Universitat de Barcelona. The course is liable to be recognized to UB with 2 academic credits.
