About the Department
Welcome to the Department of Early Modern History website. Founded in the University of Barcelona in 1975, the Department is dedicated to the understanding, research and teaching of History in the long period known as the Early Modern Era. On this portal you will find all the information related to the teaching and research activities of the Department, the research fields that we are developing and the publications of our professors, as well as our academic journal “Pedralbes”, published by the Department since 1981, and also information about our periodical congresses, the “Congrés d’Història Moderna de Catalunya” (1984-2013).

Pedralbes journal
Published annually since 1981 by the Department of Early Modern History of the University of Barcelona, “Pedralbes” is an academic journal to promote and disseminate new research about the Early Modern Era with a large geographical and thematic framework.
Meetings
Since 1984, the Department of Early Modern History of the University of Barcelona has organised a periodical conference with a broad attendance. The “Congrés d’Història Moderna de Catalunya” aims to revitalise and disseminate the most recent contributions in the field of Early Modern Catalan History.
