Skills and abilities

General educational objectives and competences

This specialty has as main objective to provide Medical Doctors who have completed a formal specialized medical training, the opportunity to expand and refine advanced and multidisciplinary competences, aimed at a minor in the subject area. For this, there is the possibility of complementing training with a double objective:

  • To provide students with a broad theoretical knowledge and pointers on epidemiological, pathogenetic, clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of the specific area of subspecialty.
  • To provide students with a broad advanced practical training in diagnostic skills and abilities

Generics

G1: Apply critical, logical and creative thinking at work, and apply the scientific method and understand its limitations.
G2: Using different software commonly used in clinical and research experimental.
G3: Integrate into the world of clinical research and connections between basic research and clinical applications (translational research), being able to obtain and interpret biomedical information from databases and other sources.
G4: Being able to work in interdisciplinary teams, collaborate with other researchers and in turn, act autonomously and with initiative and interact with other medical specialties and advise them.
G5: Being able to teach and disseminate knowledge in the social environment to both expert and non-expert audiences, clearly and in different languages.
G6: Integrate knowledge and ways of coping with the complexity and making judgments based on limited information, but reflexively, taking into account the social and ethical implications of their judgments.
G7: Provide scientific and operational elements that characterize the quality management and clinical safety. To acquire the concepts and tools that make the quality and clinical safety.
G8: Design, analyze and evaluate methods and indicators to determine the quality and clinical safety.
G9: Incorporate the concept of risk, adverse event and incident management in clinical practice.
G10: Design quality plans. Knowing the main systems of accreditation and certification in the health field.
G11: Recognize the main tools of molecular diagnosis of possible application to clinical practice. Properly interpret and diagnose the results obtained in the laboratory field.
G12: Understand and interpret the methods and equipment diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy.
G13: Apply new diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.
G14: Recognize the main tools available clinical research at a university hospital.
G15: Obtain and interpret the information contained in a draft biomedical research. Tabulate and summarize data. Analyzing data with computer. Analyze epidemiological measures of disease frequency and association with risk factors.
G16: Critically appraise clinical trial protocol and papers describing the results. Design of a sheet of informed consent. Using meta-analytic techniques to combine results of studies and assess heterogeneity between studies and possible biases.
G17: Conduct a critical reading of scientific papers. Knowing how to write and communicate scientific papers.
G18: To design and develop a draft clinical and biological research.
G.19: Being able to identify potential technological advances, and know the procedures and mechanisms necessary to transfer these advances to clinical medicine.
