Valentina has obtained her PhD degree at the University of Palermo (Italy), under the supervision of Natale Belluardo, working mainly on the role of Group II metabotropic glutamate receptor activation in the mouse brain. After finishing her PhD, she worked as Postdoctoral Research Associate at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO (USA), under the supervision of Valeria Cavalli, studying the role of mTOR signaling in axon regeneration. Since 2012 she is working as Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Palermo (Italy) on the Identification of novel G protein-coupled receptors responsive to guanine-based purines. She is visiting the Neuropharmacology and Pain Research Group during the summer of 2015 to investigate the guanosine binding to putative guanine-based purines receptors and their interplay with adenosine receptors.
