Executives of the leading energy market, representatives of international regulatory agencies and renowned experts from academia and business fields from around the world meet on 2 and 3 February at the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) on the 3rd Funseam International Symposium, organized by the Foundation for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (Funseam) and the Chair of Energy Sustainability of the University of Barcelona. The Spanish Minister for Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria, opens the first conference of the symposium which is focused on business issues. Rosa García, CEO of Siemens España, and Christopher Jones, deputy director general of Energy of the European Commission, speak on the session centred on markets and energy sustainability.

On Tuesday 3 February, the academic conference is opened by the rector of the UB, Dídac Ramírez, and gathers high ranking academics and international business schools experts who will discuss issues related to energy markets, infrastructure and sustainability policies. The closing speech of the symposium will be delivered by Maria Teresa Costa Campí, professor in the Department of Public Economy, Political Economy and Spanish Economy and director of the Chair of Energy Sustainability of the UB. Some of the main key experts that will attend this event are David Newbery, director of the prestigious Energy Policy Research Group of Cambridge University (United Kingdom), as keynote speaker, pronouncing the lecture “Security of Supply, Capacity Auctions and Interconnectors”.
