Few, if any, political issues post a greater liberal dilemma then that of addressing inequality. An increase in growth usually implies an increase in inequality. However, is inequality really increasing at long and short term in Europe? Is equality of opportunity different from equality of current conditions? These are some of the questions analysed on the book  Inclusive growth in Europe. In an era of European stagnation and increasing inequality. Raül Ramos and Vicente Royuela, professors in the Department of Econometrics, Statistics and Spanish Economy at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Barcelona (UB), are the authors of one chapter.

On 24 March, at 11 a.m., the book is presented in the Sala de Graus at the Faculty of Economics and Business, on an event co-organised by the European Liberal Forum (ELF) and the University of Barcelona. After the presentation, conducted by Elisenda Paluzie, dean of the Faculty, authors participate in a seminar that analyses book chapters. Later, they, together with other experts and representatives of different political parties, participate in a round-table talk. The chapter signed by UB professors is “Inequality in European regions”. It examines the main trends of income inequality in Europe over the last decade, both at national and regional levels. The chapter also describes the main factors impacting inequality.
