Tenth anniversary of Els Vespres de la UB
From Thursday 2 July, you can enjoy a new edition of Els Vespres de la UB, a musical proposal of the University of Barcelona that has been filling with music the gardens of the Historic Building for the last ten summers. This concert series, sponsored by Estrella Damm, promotes culture and music and gives support to emerging Catalan artists and musicians.
From Thursday 2 July, you can enjoy a new edition of Els Vespres de la UB, a musical proposal of the University of Barcelona that has been filling with music the gardens of the Historic Building for the last ten summers. This concert series, sponsored by Estrella Damm, promotes culture and music and gives support to emerging Catalan artists and musicians.
The 10th edition begins with a concert given by Manel Joseph i Los Tunantes, a project led by the popular singer of Orquestra Plateria, and will be closed on Saturday 18 July with a party at the Historic Building of the UB.
Els Vespres de la UB has been committed to Catalan emerging music for the last ten years. Groups like Las Migas (2007 and 2008), Mishima (2007), Manel and Sanjosex (2008) went up on the stage of Els Vespres before being popular. Previous programmes combined unknown proposals with consolidated groups like La iaia, Senior i el Cor Brutal and Joan Colomo. This year, the formula is the same: Xarim Aresté and Manel Joseph, headliners, together with the promising artists Daniel Lumbreras, Marga Mbande Quartet and Germà Aire.
On Thursday 2, the series is opened by Manel Joseph i Los Tunantes; then, on Tuesday 7, Daniel Lumbreras goes on the stage. Xarim Aresté performs on Thursday 9; Marga Mbande Quartet do it on Tuesday 14, and Germà Aire on Thursday 16. Finally, the party Vespres - 10 years closes the series on Saturday 18 July.
Concerts take place at 9 p.m. Entrance is free but seats are limited.
The party Festa Vespres 10 anys celebrates the tenth anniversary on 18 July. It includes design, art, cuisine, activities for children, surprises and great concerts given by artists who were on the stage of Els Vespres on previous editions as well as by popular groups.
Audience will be able to enjoy the bar Terraza Vespres, installed in the gardens of the Historic Building in June, July and September. The bar includes a gastronomic proposal by Caravan Made.
