POSTECH is a centre of scientific and technological excellence with about 3,500 students. It is ranked 28th in the World University Rankings elaborated by the British magazine The Times Higher Education (THE) and it is the top university in the Asian Specialized University Rankings. As a result of the student mobility agreement signed in 2014, the faculties of Chemistry and Mathematics of the University of Barcelona have received some students from POSTECH in the academic year 2015-2016. The University of Guadalajara is the second top higher education centre in Mexico; it has several centres across the state of Jalisco. Besides working together in some research projects, the University of Barcelona and the Mexican institution have signed two collaboration agreements, one focused on academic matters and the other centred on research activity.
