The session will start with the speech "Victimization from a victimologic perspective" by the Dr. Isabel Iborra Marmolejo, psychology teacher at the Catholic University of Valencia. Afterwards there will be a research table where they will debate on three main themes: the victimization surveys and other information sources about old peopleʼs victimization; the abuse-detection tools for these people -both in community and institutional areas- and the protection of this group of people from part of the thinking system.
At the end there will be a roundtable in which they will share several preventive and intervention experiences, with the participation of the Oficina de la Gent Gran Activa (office of active old people), Department of Employment, Social and Family Affairs, David Agustí; the head of the Prosecution in the area of Terrassa, Remei Soriano, and the President of EIMA (Research association for old people's abuse) and lawyer, Jordi Muñoz.

This activity is organized by the Research Group on Child and Adolescent Victimization (GReVIA) of the Department of Personality, Evaluation and Psychological Treatments of the UB and the Centre for Legal Studies and Specialised Training (CEJFE) of the Department of Justice of the Generalitat, with the collaboration of the Catalan Society of Victimology and the Vicki Bernadet Foundation.

Previous editions

In 2012, the session entitled “Development victimology; research, intervention and legal protection for the underaged” started these annual meetings on victimology. In that edition there was the participation of the expert David Finkelhor, among others, and they analysed the last research regarding child victimization, especially about the effects of corporal punishment, sexual abuse and multi victimization.

A year later, the 2nd session gathered prestigious experts, such as Enrique Baca and Stefan Vanistendael, who presented research on the development of resilience and the victim protection factors. The third edition focused its attention on one of the collectives with the highest level of victimization risk: people with mental disabilities or mental disorders.

And the fourth one was focused on a high risk collective: people who work in prostitution. The 2014 edition, “Child and youth victimization: the protecting effect of social structures” was focused on several violence experiences suffered by children and youngsters, linked to very different contexts. Finally, last year, the session was focused on "(in)visible victims", aiming to make more visible the reality of two groups of victims which are not enough studied in Spain: victims of religious institutions and of hate crime.
