Once more, the University of Barcelona is the best Spanish university according to the prestigious ranking QS World University Rankings 2016-2017. The institution, which holds the 160 position, is now 6 positions higher compared to its last edition and it is the only higher education institution in Spain standing out among the top 200 centers worldwide.

Once more, the University of Barcelona is the best Spanish university according to the prestigious ranking QS World University Rankings 2016-2017. The institution, which holds the 160 position, is now 6 positions higher compared to its last edition and it is the only higher education institution in Spain standing out among the top 200 centers worldwide.

The 2016-2017 edition of this International ranking is led by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), Stanford and Harvard universities (USA), Cambridge (UK) and the California Institute of Technology (CalTech, USA).

Since 2012, the University of Barcelona has progressed up a total of 27 positions in this international ranking which assesses academic reputation (40%), scientific citations per faculty (20%), student-to-faculty ratio (20%), employer reputation (10%), international faculty ratio (5%) and student ratio (5%).

 

This year, the University of Barcelona has improved regarding the numbers of international students among the global student ratio, and it holds a leading position with academic reputation among the 21 Spanish academic institutions that have a place in the list. The other Spanish universities holding the bests positions are Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (203), Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (210), the Complutense University of Madrid (239), Universidad de Navarra (245), and the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (280).

 

In the top 200 international university rankings

 

In addition, the University of Barcelona is once more the only Spanish university among the top 200 worldwide universities, according to the 2016 edition of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), known as the Shanghai Ranking. Specifically, the University of Barcelona is listed between the 151 and 200 positions of this prestigious list, and leads the ranking in Spain as for being the only one in the list.
