The University of Barcelona holds a position among the top 100 universities in the world and is once more the leading university in Spain, according to the National Taiwan University Ranking (NTU). The University of Barcelona, which keeps improving positions every year in this international ranking, holds the 69 position worldwide and improves 7 positions compared to last year, while regarding Europe it is listed on 18th position and gains 6 positions compared to 2015.

The University of Barcelona holds a position among the top 100 universities in the world and is once more the leading university in Spain, according to the National Taiwan University Ranking (NTU). The University of Barcelona, which keeps improving positions every year in this international ranking, holds the 69 position worldwide and improves 7 positions compared to last year, while regarding Europe it is listed on 18th position and gains 6 positions compared to 2015.

 

In the 100 top in the fields of Clinical Medicine and Life Sciences

 

The University of Barcelona is one of the top 100 worldwide institutions in the knowledge areas of Clinical Medicine (50), Life Sciences (55) and Agriculture (74), and is listed in the top 200 universities in Natural Sciences (115) and Social Sciences (168). Regarding disciplines, it is the leading institution in Spain on Pharmacology and Toxicology (41), Agricultural Sciences (55), Chemistry (83), Environment and Ecology (93) and Geosciences (127), and is also one of the top 100 universities on Plant and Animal Sciences (79).

 

The new edition of the NTU Ranking is led by the universities of Harvard, Sanford and Johns Hopkins (USA), the University of Toronto (Canada) and the University of Oxford (United Kingdom). In Spain, the University of Barcelona is followed by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (172nd position), the University of Valencia (233), Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (239) and the University of Granada (265).

 

The National Taiwan University Ranking, also known as Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers, is a continuation of the ranking carried out by the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT), and is one of the first international rankings that opted for calculating positions out of a series of indicators obtained only from indexed scientific performance.
