The European Observatory on Memories of the Solidarity Foundation of the University of Barcelona (EUROM) has set a collaboration agreement with the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. With this agreement, the well-known Polish institution becomes one of the 44 partner organizations of the transnational network of EUROM, created in 2012 aiming to promote interdisciplinary research and cultural activities to help promoting and developing the plurality of collective memories.

The agreement sets up general conditions for scientific, technical, administrative and educational cooperation between both institutions, including joint research and exchanges between the members of their communities. Both entities are already working on the organization of a forum on human rights, to be created during the second half of 2017 at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. The activity counts with the collaboration of the Gernika Peace Museum Foundation, also member of this network.

Agreements with the University of Bucharest and the Berlin Wall Foundation

Apart from this agreement with the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, this year EUROM has signed collaboration agreements with the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Bucharest and with the Berlin Wall Foundation. The transnational network on memories of the Solidarity Foundation of the University of Barcelona is currently formed by a total of 44 institutions and research groups from 18 European countries and from the United States.

Created in 2012 with the support of the European Commission, the European Observatory on Memories has worked for the recognition of diversity of collective memories. In these lines, with the promotion of transdisciplinary, transverse and transnational projects, EUROM aims to identify and analyse the diversity of memory processes in Europe and other continents; promoting the debate for the creation of representative public policies and contributing to the analysis of management; promoting a socialization for memory initiatives; and boosting real connections between institutions, professionals and researchers.
