Institute of Childhood and the Urban World (CIIMU)

The Institute of Childhood and the Urban World (CIIMU) is a consortium comprised of Barcelona City Council, Barcelona Provincial Council, the University of Barcelona (UB), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the Open University of Catalonia (UOC).

It has also established collaboration agreements with most Catalan public universities and various Spanish and foreign universities.

The aims of the institute are as follows:

  • Contribute to improving the quality of life in childhood, adolescence and families through applied research, training, dissemination, exchange and debate.
  • Promote knowledge transfer between university research, professional practice and civil society to improve the design and assessment of public and private practices in the area of childhood, adolescence and families.

CIIMU collaborators include a team of universities researchers from the fields of anthropology, sociology, psychology, social education, teaching and communication, as well as social work professionals.
