The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
General Objectives:
- To gain extensive knowledge of the foundations and tools of quality care.
- To understand the basic concepts of clinical safety and the most commonly applied tools of the discipline.
- To broaden the understanding of the processes and procedures involved in safe drug management.
- To examine the main systems of external quality assessment in the health sector.
- To become familiar with advanced systematics for quality plan design.
- To understand the main knowledge management strategies adopted by organizations.
- To learn strategies for records policy.
- To understand the internal audit system.
- To understand the underlying principles of monitoring and benchmarking systems.
Specific objectives:
- To acquire knowledge on the continuous cycle of improvement in quality of care and its use.
- To acquire an understanding of monitoring and design systems of indicators for quality of care.
- To learn the taxonomy and terminology of clinical safety.
- To understand the main approach models to health errors.
- To learn error control mechanisms in drug management.
- To learn about safety initiatives in ICUs, emergency rooms and hospitalization.
- To understand the ISO, EFQM and Joint Commission external quality assessment systems.
- To become familiar with other systems and criteria for organizational assessment.
- To understand the relationship between strategic plans and quality plans.
- To learn the different steps in the design of a quality plan.
- To understand the meaning and the origins of knowledge management.
