The author analyses some instances of slips in writings of different kinds and retakes the debate between the relationship between fiction and reality in the historical novel. He also focuses on some popularising texts with no aim at telling stories, but rather aiming at explaining facts, which are so plagued with mistakes that it cannot be accounted for by anything but oversight and carelessness.
