Cognitive auditory neuroscience
My research focus on how the human brain builds the auditory world around us to give rise to auditory perception. A major topic are the neural mechanisms to model the statistic regularities in the acoustic environment supporting predictive perception.
Carles EsceraPredictive processes in motor-sensory interactions
The world we perceive is an active interpretation of the information that arrives at our senses. A key factor in this interpretative process is prediction. We are interested in understanding the neural mechanisms that support predictive processing, and how they influence perception.
Iria SanMiguelNeural dynamics of affective processing
We are interested in the neural basis of emotion processing and its interactions with perception and awareness. More specifically, we investigate amygdala function and its mutual influences with the sensory systems, mainly in the healthy brain. We use human electrophysiology (scalp-EEG, intracranial EEG), neuroimaging (MRI), behavioral and other physiological (peripheral) measures.
Judith Domínguez-BorràsCoherent oscillations at pitch rates in sensorimotor integration and voice production
We investigate the oscillatory dynamics that support pitch perception and production, focusing on their role in sensorimotor integration and vocal learning.
Jordi Costa FaidellaCognitive neurogenetics
Our research focuses on the study of human genetic diversity and how individual genetic differences underlie observed differences in cognitive traits. Among others, we have a special interest in the genetic underpinnings of mechanisms involved in auditory processing, and its relevance in domains such as music and language.
Marc ViaNumerical cognition and math anxiety
Our main interest is the study of cognitive processes involved in the processing of numerical information by using brain activity recording. We have been working on getting more knowledge about which factors determine the selection and the efficiency of calculation strategies used to solve simple arithmetic problems.
