I completed my BA in Speech and Language Pathology at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia (2022). During my clinical training, I mainly focused on the assessment and rehabilitation of speech, language, and swallowing disorders in adult neurological populations (i.e., patients with brain tumours, stroke, and traumatic brain injury).
I obtained my MA and M.Sc., graduating from the Erasmus Mundus European Master in Clinical Linguistics (EMCL++), an international research Master’s programme jointly awarded by the University of Groningen (The Netherlands), Ghent University (Belgium), and the University of Eastern Finland.
For my research internship and Master’s thesis, I joined the Clinical Linguistics and Brain Research group at Erasmus MC Rotterdam, working under the supervision of Dr. Djaina Satoer (Erasmus MC) and Dr. Marc Brysbaert (Ghent University). I worked on a Slovenian adaptation of the Dutch Linguistic Intraoperative Protocol (DuLIP), a test battery used for language mapping during awake brain surgery, and collected new psycholinguistic norms for Age of acquisition and Imageability. In my thesis, titled Psycholinguistic Predictors of Naming Accuracy in Slovenian: Adapting an Object-Naming Task for Awake Brain Surgery, I explored how various psycholinguistic variables affect naming performance in healthy speakers, on a task specifically developed for awake language mapping.
At Brainlab, I currently work as a research technician supervised by Dr. Jordi Costa Faidella, contributing to a project investigating the role of coherent neuronal oscillations at voice-pitch frequencies in phonatory control, with a particular focus on corticomuscular interactions between the laryngeal muscles and the brain.
