Presentation
The UB Chair on Studies of Territory and Resilience was created in the framework of the agreements between the University of Barcelona and Agbar for the development of research projects to delve deeper into the urban theory and thinking of Ildefons Cerdà regarding urban and spatial planning and organization.
The Chair’s goal is to continue existing work on the contributions of Cerdà. It also aims to promote further research, training, knowledge dissemination and transfer in the areas of urban and spatial planning, in the context of the essential transformation that must be currently addressed.
Urban and territorial transformation will be examined from the perspective of two key concepts: resilience and sustainability. These must form an essential part of current thinking, reflecting the global objectives and agreements established in the instruments adopted internationally and in the specific framework of the European Union.
This new initiative is the result of the academic activity (teaching and research) carried out by the research group whose members make up the Chair. The group is distinguished by its cross-cutting nature and its integration of a by the incorporation of the unavoidable transversal vision (which is genuinely in the style of Cerdà) when addressing the different topics, challenges and research lines.
