Gemma received her B.Sc. from the University of Barcelona in 2021, where she studied Chemistry. She then completed a M.Sc. in Applied Materials Chemistry at the same university. In September 2022, she started her doctoral studies at the ChemInFlow Group under the supervision of Dr. Josep Puigmartí and Dr. Roc Matheu.

During her B.Sc. thesis, her work consisted of the study of a redox active colloidal system for dissipative self-assembly under the supervision of Dr. Josep Puigmartí, Dr. Alessandro Sorrenti and James Nicholas. In her M.Sc. thesis, she continued in the ChemInFlow Group, where her research work concerned the synthesis of 2D and 3D COF systems by means of confined reaction spaces and microfluidic technologies simulating microgravity conditions.

Continuing on from this, her doctoral research interests include the investigation and development of functional materials, mainly COFs and MOFs, and the generation of heterostructures in confined reaction spaces. The synthesis of these systems will be performed through microfluidic technologies, providing control over the self-assembly processes and the generation and study of novel properties.
