Júlia Pareto Boada is Assistant Professor of Ethics and Philosophy of technology at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). She has previously been a research fellow at the AI&Democracy Chair at the Florence School of Transnational Governance, European University Institute, and a postdoctoral researcher at the Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial, CSIC-UPC, with whom she continues to collaborate in the research on the Ethics of social robotics.

She holds a Ph.D. with International Mention in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona (2024), with a thesis on the ethics of technologies which was developed within the Human-Centered Robotics program of the MdM Unit of Excellence at the Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial, CSIC-UPC. She holds a Master’s degree in Political Philosophy from Pompeu Fabra University and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy with Extraordinary Prize from the University of Barcelona, with an academic stay at Freie Universität Berlin. During her doctoral studies she carried out research stays in the Department of Philosophy of the University of Twente and the Department of Philosophy of the Universität Wien.

She is member of the Ethics Committee of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya since May 2024, and member of the Aporia Research Group since 2017, where she has collaborated on projects related to research lines on Institutional Ethics, Transparency, and Good Governance, and more recently, on Applied Ethics in technological development in the healthcare and social care fields.
