Abstract

The study of the caloric effects is being a subject of interest as an alternative for traditional refrigeration. Several reported studies shows a huge candidates materials with potential characteristics to be used as the core of the solid state refrigeration since they are capable to produce an endothermal or exothermal process during the application of a generalized force. A typical generalized force is the magnetic field which can produce an high entropy changes when it is applied around of the ordering temperature in a second order material (MCM). The ordering of the magnetic moment can produce heat on the MCM, a characteristic that can taking advantage by a thermal cyclic process. The speed of the heat flow from and to the MCM sample is an important part in the thermal cycling process since is related with the frequency and therefore with the refrigeration process. Thermal diodes have been considered in order to accelerate the frequency furthermore they works as thermal check valves allowing the heat flow through them just in one direction. The present topic is about a proposal to produce an active magnetic regenerator (AMR) using thermal diodes and characteristics to taking account during the fabrication of AMR where caloric effects will be applied.
