InvAdapt Lab, Under the Stone, is a laboratory focused on the study of invasive invertebrate soil organisms, mainly land planarians. We aim to find the key to adaptability in these organisms.

My research focuses on the study of genetic variation in different human populations with a historical, demographic, and epidemiological approach through the use of large-scale genomic data and state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools. To date, I have studied human populations in the Iberian Peninsula and the Maghreb; Scandinavia and Greenland; and Aboriginal Australia. I have also conducted genomic research on cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and psychiatric disorders.

Predoctoral Researcher in Marine Sciences at the University of Barcelona. I study molecular eukaryotic biodiversity patterns in shallow hard‐bottom Antarctic benthic communities using DNA metabarcoding.

The two main areas of my research are marine chemical ecology (natural products benthic invertebrates temperate, tropical and polar) and integrated coastal zone management (use of benthic invertebrates as indicators of environmental conditions in coastal management processes).

I am currently working at the Institute of Marine Sciences of Barcelona (ICM-CSIC) and the University of Barcelona (UB). My research is focused on the effect of ocean acidification on Antarctic marine calcifiers.

During my early career, as graduated in Marine Biology and a master in Marine Ecology, I have mainly studied how environmental variability modulates biochemical and reproductive adaptations in different species of marine invertebrates. Furthermore, I am currently conducting my PhD thesis about potential effects of glacial melt and retreat on different ecological characteristics of Antarctic marine benthic communities.

Conservation biology of plants, with special emphasis on the biology of small populations of endemic species and subjected to fragmentation processes in the Mediterranean region (demography, reproductive biology, population genetics). Databases of genetic biodiversity. Pharmaceutical botany.

I study the patterns of diversity (plant and animal) in agricultural landscapes, with special attention to the contrast between conventional and organic systems, and the impact of changes in diversity on functionalism of these systems and the implications for management and conservation. Also dedicate part of my work analyzing spatial data diversity, floristic studies in the biology of invasions.

I am an Associate Professor 'Serra Húnter' at the University of Barcelona and the lead of the Freshwater Ecology, Hydrology and Management (FEHM-Lab) research group. My research interests mainly focus on the biodiversity, ecology, and conservation of freshwater ecosystems. In particular, I have been working on large-scale spatial patterns of aquatic macroinvertebrates mediterranean climate rivers and their responses to past, present, and future disturbances, combining community and population approaches. I have conducted my research mainly on of the world, where intermittent rivers are part of the daily landscape and have triggered many evolutionary adaptations of species.

I am a lecturer at the University of Barcelona, specialized in cryptogamic botany, with over twenty years of experience studying macrophytes and diatoms in aquatic ecosystems. My research focuses on taxonomy, ecology, and the design and revision of biological indices to assess the ecological status of rivers, lakes, and wetlands, contributing to the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD). In parallel, I actively participate in knowledge transfer projects and environmental volunteering initiatives.

I'm doing my PhD on the spatial ecology of storm petrels

My research focuses on the study of the diversity, ecology, ecophysiology and conservation of mesophotic and deep vulnerable marine ecosystems dominated by corals and gorgonians, to provide understanding for the sustainable management and conservation of marine ecosystems. This research is developed following a multidisciplinary approach combining fieldwork, experimental studies, and a highly diversified collection of laboratory analyses. In this sense, my research includes the study of taxonomy, spatial distribution pattern of species, the state of their populations (demography), energetic condition (lipid content), reproductive and trophic biology (stable isotopes and fatty acids composition), and metabolic processes (calcification, respiration, excretion rates). Combining sampling by scuba diving and the use of underwater technology (underwater towed cameras, remotely operated vehicles, autonomous underwater vehicles, manned submersible), coral and gorgonians species are studied over extensive areas and depth ranges covering their entire spatial distribution, as the best way to achieve a comprehensive understanding of their ecology and the variability of their responses to environmental features and human induced stressors.
