Post-Doct position in cell biology and translational cancer research

Applications are sought for a post-doctoral researcher wishing to pursue a career working on tumour biology to join the Cancer Heterogeneity Lab (led by Dr. Maria dM Vivanco) at CIC bioGUNE, Bilbao, Spain.

We are offering a PhD student position to work on an international ground-breaking project that brings together chemists, biologists, and medical doctors from Ireland, France, Portugal and Spain to fight breast cancer.

The BOTS project “Blue Organoids for Treatment Selection” focuses on developing organoid technology for personalised medicine. Chemists in Pau and Bordeaux will create hydrogels that will be tested in organoid culture by biologists in Bilbao, Lisbon, Dublin and Bordeaux. This programme was selected by the European Commission for the Atlantic Area Interreg programme.

We are seeking highly motivated post-doctoral candidates to analyse the fundamental properties linked to cellular identity and cross-talk with the microenvironment that confer resistance to therapy in breast cancer. The successful applicant will use a multidisciplinary approach involving omics analysis, 3D cell models, co-culture systems and human samples with the final aim of improving therapies for personalised medicine while reducing the risk of developing resistance to therapies in breast cancer. This position benefits from opportunities to interact with colleagues not only in CIC bioGUNE, a Centre of Excellence, but also within the European consortium.

Eligibility criteria

  • Hold a PhD in a biological field.

  • Knowledge of cell culture and molecular biology.

  • Experience with 3D cell culture systems is desirable.

  • Mastery of scientific English and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Motivation, critical thinking and enthusiasm.

Recruiment process

Interested candidates, please send a CV and a covering letter including contact information of two reference scientists to form and indicating 42102 as reference.
