Awards

In conection with the ERC project “Eliptic PDE” many awards were given individually to the main Project Investigator Prof. Xavier Ros-Oton and to his team members.

Xavier Ros-Oton has been one of the winners this 2023 in the National Research Awards, the most important recognition in Spain in the field of scientific research, which distinguishes those people who stand out for their career and relevance. international in their respective areas of research, as well as the merit of young people (with a maximum age of 40) who have achieved relevant achievements in the early stages of their careers, as indicated by the Ministry of Science and Innovation. Ros-Oton was awarded the “María Andresa Casamayor” young people category for “the development of new and fundamental techniques in the area of partial differential equations, among which his study of free boundary problems that model the transition between different states of matter stand out”.

Xavier Ros-Oton has been one of the winners of the Frontiers of Science Awards given by the Chinese government as part of the International Congress of Basic Science. These awards recognize the best 86 international papers in all areas of basic science published over the past five years. This year, for the period between 2018 and 2022, two articles of which Ros-Oton is co-author have been selected: “Stable solutions to semilinear elliptic equations are smooth up to dimension 9” (Acta Mathematica, 2020) and “Generic regularity of free boundaries for the obstacle problem” (Publications mathématiques de l’IHÉS, 2020).

Xavier Ros-Oton alongside Xavier Fernández-Real have won the 2023 Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Prize, for their original mathematical monograph of an expository nature presenting the latest developments in an active area of research in Mathematics, in which the applicants have made important contributions.

Xavier Ros-Oton, professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the UB, has been appointed new member of the Royal Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences of Spain, being the youngest person to join this institution

“Forbes” has included prof. Xavier Ros-Oton in the list of the top 50 awarded Spaniards!
