Presentation Botany and Mycology

The Unit of Botany and Mycology works on several lines of research aimed at deepening the theoretical and practical knowledge of vegetables and fungi.

The Unit works on cryptogamy, the main lines of research of which are: lichenology, from morphological taxonomy and floristic documentation to bioindication and molecular taxonomy; the mycology and the algae of epicontinental waters, with different lines of application; and the briology.

Regarding the study of vascular plants, along with the classic lines of floristic and phytosociology, different members of the Unit work in the ecology of plant communities, in biosystems, in the development of databases and software related to the exploitation and management of biodiversity data, in the biology of plant populations, and in agroecology.
