The University of Barcelona is the top state university in the World University Rankings, published by the British specialized magazine Times Higher Education, securing the 152nd position worldwide. This represents a jump of 30 positions compared to the previous year. This year, the ranking has updated its methodology and includes new indicators.

Among the conceptual pillars that group the various ranking indicators, UB receives the highest rating in research quality and scope, scoring 91.4 points and ranking 100th in the world. It excels in aspects such as excellence, influence, strength, impact, productivity, and research-derived income. Additionally, UB stands out in knowledge transfer, scoring 83.9, with a particular emphasis on research-derived income and the number of patents. In the teaching domain, it's worth noting the positive results achieved in indicators related to doctoral studies, such as the increase in the ratio of doctoral students to faculty and the growth in the number of students entering doctoral programs.

UB shows significant improvement in almost all indicators, with an overall score of 61.9.

State universities following UB in the rankings include the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Pompeu Fabra University, both within the 201-250 range.

The University of Oxford maintains its leadership in the Times Higher Education ranking as the world's top university, followed by Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
