Recommended income profile

It is advisable to be in possession of a licenciatura or bachelor’s or a degree in pedagogy, psychopedagogy or related fields and a master's degree in education or related fields. Specifically, the recommended profile of applicants is students who have fulfilled the generic criteria of the current regulations established by the Academic Committee of the PhD programme, have experience as professors or professionals in the fields covered by the doctorate and consider doctoral research to be directly linked to their professional practice, seeking to achieve improvements in educational processes or transfer the results of research in their respective fields of professional activity.


Admission criteria

In addition to the general access requirements, the Academic Committee of the doctoral programme establishes the following specific requirements and criteria:


1. Access from the following UB university master's programmes:

- Leadership and Management of Educational Centres

- Education in Values ​​and Citizenship

- Teaching and Learning Environments with Digital Technologies

- Social and Educational Interventions

- Research and Educational Change

- Psychopedagogy
2. From other related master’s degrees, according to the specialty of the candidate's studies and their competence with research avenues of the doctoral program

3. For foreign students, level of comprehension of Catalan and/or a Spanish equivalent to the Diploma in Spanish (intermediate level) B1 (Catalan)

4. Level of understanding equivalent to B1 of one of the most widely used foreign languages ​​in the field of studies of the program, specifically, English or French.

The selection and admission of students will be determined by the Academic Committee of the programme according to the following assessment table:


1. Previous degree (between 0 and 4 points), based on the following criteria:

a) From the following UB master’s degrees (4 points):

Management and Management of Educational Centres; Education in Values ​​and Citizenship; Teaching and Learning Environments with Digital Technologies; Social and Educational Interventions; Research and Educational Change; Training of Adults, Youth and Society; Secondary Education Teacher Training (Specialty Educational Guidance); and Psychopedagogy

b) Other related master’s degrees, the specialty of the candidates’ studies and their competence with the research avenues of the programme valued between 0 and 2 points

2. Academic transcripts of degree or licenciatura (up to 1 point, depending on the average grade)

3. Master's degree transcript (up to 2 points, depending on the grade-point average)  

4. Letter of intent with a research proposal  (up to 2 points)

5. Curriculum Vitae (up to 4 points), specifying the following:

a) Previous research experience in any of the research lines of the programme. Publications and participation in conferences (up to 2 points) will also be considered.

b) Previous professional experience in any of the fields to which the theoretical and practical studies of the doctoral programme are directed (up to 1 point)

c) Complementary training in other university and postgraduate master’s programmes (up to 1 point).

6. Other academic, research and professional merits (up to 2 points)
