On Thursday, June 19, the University of Barcelona held the inauguration ceremony for several new dean teams, including that of the Faculty of Philology and Communication

The Aula Magna hosted the inauguration ceremony for the new dean of the Faculty of Philology and Communication, Dr. Joan G. Burguera, along with his team. The new dean's office, which will lead the Faculty for the next six years, is composed of professionals with distinguished academic careers. Supporting Dr. Burguera in this new stage are: Dr. Salvador Iranzo, as Vice-Dean of Coordination; Dr. Ana Moya, as Vice-Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Quality, and Students; Dr. M. Pilar Perea, as Vice-Dean of Master's, Research, and Doctoral Studies; Dr. Eva Martínez, as Vice-Dean of Communication and International Relations; and Dr. Mireia Farrús, as Academic Secretary.

During the ceremony, the rector of the University of Barcelona, Dr. Joan Guàrdia, expressed his gratitude and recognition to the outgoing deans and emphasized the importance of this new phase, with a clear focus on academic excellence and the future.

To close the event, Dr. Guàrdia invited Dr. Javier Velaza, outgoing dean (2017–2025), to read the poem "Aula Magna" from his book Las Ignorancias. In Velaza’s words, “This poem is a tribute to the importance of knowledge transfer and to the fundamental role of the University in education.”
