The University of Barcelona is the best-rated state center in all international research indicators. The Faculty of Philology and Communication provides quality and prestigious research through the work of numerous groups and projects obtained in national and international competitive calls, research institutes and research and documentation centers. The Faculty's Research Committee (LINCAR) is the body in charge of defining, monitoring and evaluating the main lines of action in research. The Research Office is in charge of the financial and administrative management of the projects and offers general information on calls for proposals and grants.

Presentation of the volume «Los trabajos y los días. Tribute to Professor Adolfo Sotelo Vázquez»

On Wednesday, June 4th, at 12:00 PM, the presentation of the volume "Los trabajos y los días. Tribute to Professor Adolfo Sotelo Vázquez" (Edicions de la Universitat de Barcelona, 2024) will take place in the Professors' Room of the Josep Carner Building. The work compiles more than thirty studies by colleagues and disciples of Dr. Adolfo Sotelo, on the occasion of his retirement as a professor at the University of Barcelona and as a member of the Faculty of Philology and Communication.

The session will feature speeches by Dr. Marta Cristina, Director of the Department of Hispanic Philology, Literary Theory, and Communication, and co-editor of the volume; Dr. Javier Velaza, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Joan G. Burguera, Vice Dean of Faculty and Communication; and the honoree, Dr. Adolfo Sotelo Vázquez, Emeritus Professor of Spanish Literature.

The event aims to acknowledge Professor Sotelo's mentorship, who has taught at the Faculty of Philology and Communication of the University of Barcelona for four decades, where he obtained his undergraduate and doctoral degrees and later served as Dean from 2008 to 2017.

His research has focused on the connections between literature and thought and on the relationships among Iberian cultures. He currently leads the Celians Studies Group and is a regular columnist for La Vanguardia.

He has published, among other books: Leopoldo Alas y el fin de siglo (1988), Glosario de teoría de la narrativa (1990), Miguel de Unamuno: Artículos en «Las Noticias» de Barcelona (1899-1902) (1993), Perfiles de «Clarín» (2001), El Naturalismo en España: Crítica y novela (2002), Viajeros en Barcelona (2005), Camilo José Cela, perfiles de un escritor (2008), De Cataluña y España: Relaciones culturales y literarias (1868-1960) (Edicions UB, 2014) i Variaciones Cela (Edicions UB, 2018).

He has also edited works by, among others, Francisco Giner de los Ríos, Juan Valera, Benito Pérez Galdós, Leopoldo Alas, Emilia Pardo Bazán, Miguel de Unamuno, Américo Castro, and Carmen Martín Gaite, in addition to Camilo José Cela.
