The ninth Eurostars Hotels Award for narrative of travel, organized by Hotusa Group, the University of Barcelona and RBA Libros, has been announced together with a new website on which information about the contest and how to participate in it will be published. On this occasion, the writers who enter the contest can hand their works online through the new website, or send them by post following the instructions announced in the conditions of the contest.

This year the contest has another novelty: new periods in the development of the contest have been established. That means that the contest was announced in December and the deadline to hand works has been set on 15th March 2013. The winner will be announced on June instead of in September as it has been done till now.

The award-winning work will receive 18,000 euros and it will have a series, edited by RBA Libros, which will be marketed at the beginning of the summer. In addition, Hotusa Group will receive 10,000 copies of the book to distribute in the rooms of the different Eurostars hotels where more than three million people stay every year; therefore, clients will be able to enjoy travel literature during their stay.

This year, the Eurostars Hotels Award for narrative of travel has once more a jury composed by one member representing each of the organizing bodies: Hotusa Group and its trademark Eurostars, the University of Barcelona and RBA Libros. Two prestigious writers will also take part in electing the winners.

Culture, an essential value for Hotusa Group

The Eurostars Award for narrative of travel is part of the determined commitment of Hotusa Group to culture. This binding with culture is shown by a great number of awards and contests, the artistic project Exhibitions Eurostars, and a clear preference for the avant-garde in architecture and interior design.

Although it is a really young contest, the Eurostars Hotels Award for narrative of travel has become a reference since it was created, eight years ago, as it is proved by its success in participation. Works from different countries have participated in the contest: Germany, Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Spain, United States, Greece, Guatemala, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Uruguay and New Zealand.

The winner of the eighth contest was Héctor Sánchez Minguillán for his work Dos huérfanos en China; the first copies of these books have already been edited and they will be soon distributed among the Eurostars hotels. The origin of this award dated from 2005, when the novel Crónicas de Selva by the Colombian writer Eladio de Valdenebro, was recognised.
