New initiation in the high energy telescope network, CTA

An agreement signed by Spain and Japan will allow the Building and instalment of four Cherenkov telescopes in the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (La Palma island, Canary Islands) in the frame of CTA consortium (Cherenkov Telescope Array or Cherenkov Telescope Network), in which researchers from Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the University of Barcelona (ICCUB, IEEC-UB) will participate.

The aim is the construction of an infrastructure able to detect and research high energy gamma-rays which will give out a lot of information on the most aggressive and extreme phenomena that happen in the Universe. CTA infrastructure is made up of two observatories, one in each hemisphere of the planet.
