The Library Font de la Mina (Ponent, 21, Sant Adrià de Besòs) is presenting –until June 9- a selection of photographs of the neighbourhoods of this area, about the history of Camp de la Bota. Launched by the Historic Collection of Camp de la Bota and la Mina, the exhibition was carried out with the participation of students of Environmental Sciences of the UB as part of a service-learning project (ApS), in which students collaborate with several entities involved in the improvement of society's sustainability.

The Arxiu Històric del Camp de la Bota i la Mina (historical collection of Camp de la Bota and la Mina) is one of the entities that take part in this ApS project as well as the Associació de Veïns de Can Sant Joan (neighbourhood association of Can Sant Joan), Can Pedró, Centre Jove d’Anticoncepció i Sexualitat (youth center of contraception and sexuality), Ecologistes en Acció, Cooperativa Germinal, Espigoladors, VSF Justícia Alimentària Global, EcoConcern, Sitges Solidària, the City Council of Sant Cugat and UB Solidarity Foundation, as well as the Office for Health, Security and Environment of the UB.

In this exhibition, the students of Environmental Sciences participate in a project to recover historical memory of Camp de la Bota, borth for the memories on extreme poverty and the subjects on social rights, solidarity and dignity. The material has been collected by the head of the historical collection, Josep Maria Monferrer, and it is a set of photographs from the sixties and seventies, and a video. The project also aims to interview some of these people to focus on the memories and create a collection of historical memory about what happened during the Franco regime in this neighbourhood.

This project is part of the course Sustainable Development, coordinated by the lecturer Mireia Esparza, from the Department of Evolutionary Biology, Ecology and Environmental Sciences. It also counts with the participation of the lecturers M. Àngels Alió, from the Department of Geography; Mar Grasa, from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Roc Padró , from the Department of Economic History, Institutions, Policy and World Economy. Service-learning is an educational methodology with social uses, which combines learning processes and community services in the same project, in which the students work on real needs of the environment, aiming to improve it.
